    Brief CV:

    She is professor of Creative Writing at the University of Murdoch (Perth, Australia), and writer of fiction. Her first novel, The World Waiting to be Made, was published in 1994 and awarded the Western Australia Premier's Prize for Fiction; a recognition which was granted to her subsequent novels, The Australian Fiance (2000) and The Travel Writer (2006). She has been jury in various literary awards, including the Commonwealth Literary Prize. She has spoken and participated in several literary festivals and events, both national and international. Her fiction, as well as the research lines on which she bases her academic work, focus on migration experiences by contemporary individuals, and on the contexts of tourism and travel in relation to practices of consumerism, photography and the memorialization of urban space.
